Celtic have been handed more bad news this morning after last night's horror defeat at the hands of Motherwell.

It looks like Celtic are headed for a trophyless season unless the board decides to part ways with Wilfried Nancy as soon as possible. Most fans wanted the decision to be made last night. It did not come. So, it looks like they are going to stick with the French manager despite his losing five out of his seven games since taking over. And there is further bad news for the club this morning.

Of course, many would argue that Nancy does not have a good enough squad. But Martin O'Neill was winning games consistently and getting good performances out of this same roster.

On top of that, it looks like this squad is now set to be further weakened. As reported by the Daily Mail (via 67 Hail Hail), Manchester City are set to recall Simpson-Pusey from his loan spell when the transfer window opens.

That is an understandable decision on the part of Manchester City. After all, the loanee has only made on appearance for the club since coming in. And it was a solid display as well. So, one can only wonder why he has not been handed more game time. Anyways, if he is indeed on his way out, we can only wish him the best of luck moving forward. It feels like he never got a fair shake of things at Celtic.

Simpson-Pusey was not playing much. That is true. But at the end of the day, he was another option who could fit into a couple of positions if the situation called for it.

Celtic will need to make a signing or two at the back this winter, that is for sure. It is very clear that the board is unwilling to part ways with Nancy and admit that they got the appointment completely wrong.

The least they can do is give him proper backing in the summer. And then, perhaps things can work out a bit better.
