Celtic make move for Montenegro international striker

Celtic need to sign a striker this January and it looks like they want to bring in the Montenegro international to Parkhead.

It is no secret that Celtic need to sign a striker, perhaps even more, in the January transfer window. They did not replace Kyogo when he left for Rennes last winter. Somehow, they then sanctioned the departure of Adam Idah as well, without having a replacement in place first, before failing to complete a late move for Kasper Dolberg.

As things stand, their forward ranks have been significantly weakened. Just a few years back, they were struggling to give enough playing time to two strikers in peak form, Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis. Right now, they don't have a single consistent goalscorer.

Unsurprisingly, the club have been linked with a variety of strikers over the last few days. And it looks like the latest of them is currently playing in the English Championship.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Celtic have expressed interest in Milutin Osmajic. The striker, who plays for Preston North End in the Championship right now, could be a valuable addition to the team.

One thing that might worry the Celtic fans a bit regarding this piece of news is that Osmajic is not a consistent goalscorer. He has scored four times so far this season, and overall, in 91 appearances for Preston North End, he has 27 goals.

That is an average return at best. He also was goalless during his time in La Liga. And in the Portuguese top flight, he found the back of the net eight times in 31 games.

Of course, it is possible that he could thrive in a side that creates a ton of chances. So, it would be a mistake to write him off before anything significant has happened regarding the move. Celtic can express interest in a bunch of players. But will they make a push to sign Osmajic?
