Celtic board unhappy with Wilfried Nancy's comment, discussing his future

It has been claimed by a report that the Celtic board are unhappy with Wilfried Nancy's comment and have met to discuss his future.

One would imagine that even the Celtic board realises by now that they made a mistake appointing Wilfried Nancy as the club's manager. He has lost six out of his eight games since taking charge. Now, when in the past has anyone made this kind of a start and then gone on to have a successful career at Parkhead? 'Never' is the answer to that question, in case you were wondering.

The board might be too concerned about admitting their mistake, though. Even the Ibrox club did so with Russell Martin earlier in the campaign, when the situation became untenable. Guess the Rangers are ahead of Celtic in some departments these days.

Even the most pessimistic of fans would have expected to see Nancy being shown the exit door after the defeat at the hands of the Rangers. But it did not happen. And it is unlikely that it is going to anytime soon, if it did not last night.

The concerns about Nancy behind-the-scenes seem to be growing though, even for this Celtic board. There is an interesting update on the entire situation that does not paint a rosy picture.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Fraser Fletcher has told the outlet that the “board have met for discussion” over Nancy’s future and that they were “not happy” with his ‘we’re close to doing great things’ response to the defeat. The insider added that there are “serious concerns over the squad’s trajectory and the players are not happy".

Well, if the information is accurate, then it is a step in the right direction. If the club had any real ambition, Nancy would have been shown the exit door even before the Glasgow Derby.

It has been clear for a while that the Frenchman is not going to make it at Parkhead. He is not cut out for the job. He does not have the quality. The pressure is too much. Just look at Nancy's 'defeated' body language after the Glasgow Derby, as he struggled to meet Danny Rohl in the eye and then walked up the tunnel, looking like a man who had given up.

It is understandable if a lot of players are not happy with this situation either. A lot of them are serial winners. Callum McGregor cried after missing a penalty in a cup final, after winning twenty-plus trophies for the club. You think he likes this?
